Gond artists create extraordinary detail through repeated dots, dashes, lines and patterns. These distinctive marks fill animals, trees and other forms with rhythm and movement. While rooted in tradition, each artist develops an individual visual language, making every work distinctly their own.
Brajbhooshan Dhurwe
Brajbhushan Dhurwe is a Gond artist from Patangarh in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, a region known for its rich tradition of Gond art. Painting is his primary livelihood, and he has been exhibiting his work at art fairs and cultural institutions across India since 2013. His work has been shown at venues including the Crafts Museum in New Delhi and Rashtrapati Bhavan(President of India’s abode), where he also completed a wall painting in 2023.
Manisha Dhurve
Manisha Dhurve is a Gond artist from Dindori district in Madhya Pradesh. Growing up in a small village surrounded by dense forests, she developed an early and enduring connection with nature. After her marriage in 2012, she deepened her understanding of Gond art through her husband, Santosh, who is also a Gond artist. Today, Manisha lives and works in Bhopal and has participated in several state- and national-level group exhibitions.
Laxman Sori
Laxman Sori is a tribal artist from Chhattisgarh whose creative practice includes both painting and traditional metal art. Seeking greater opportunities for his work, he moved to Bhopal after the COVID pandemic, but later returned to his native region in 2025. His journey reflects both the creativity and the economic challenges faced by many traditional artists working to sustain themselves through their art.
